What Gets Into Indian Land Carpet

Indian Land is one of the fastest-growing parts of the Charlotte metro, and it is still being built. Subdivision after subdivision is going up on graded former farmland, so two things follow. The homes are new, and the carpet is usually the original builder-grade synthetic that shows traffic lanes fast and has never been cleaned. And the constant construction puts raw red clay and grit on the roads and driveways that rides straight in on shoes and paws. Between graded lots, new sod that has not knit, and unpaved shoulders, there is exposed clay everywhere, and it tracks onto light carpet and stains. The area runs from young commuter families with kids and pets to the Sun City retirees protecting good furniture and rugs, and both keep us busy.

Carpet, Rug, and Pet Cleaning in Indian Land

In the newer family homes the carpet greys and mats in the walkways from ground-in soil, so it can look worn when it is really just dirty, and hot water extraction lifts that soil and stands the pile back up. For pets, odor from an accident soaks into the backing and the pad, so we treat it at the source rather than covering it with a spray. In the Sun City homes the carpet, rugs, and upholstery have aged in place and are worth protecting, so we identify the fiber and match the method to it. Metro Steamway's owner is an IICRC-certified journeyman textile cleaner.

How Our In-Home Carpet Cleaning Works

Metro Steamway cleans with a truck-mounted hot water extraction system. The heat and suction stay in the truck, so the crew brings in just the hose and wand. We work through the carpet room by room and take the stairs by hand. Drying is quick, which matters in the Carolina humidity, since a carpet left damp can take on a musty smell.

Indian Land Carpet Cleaning FAQs

Our new build's carpet already looks dingy in the walkways. Is it worn out?

Usually not. On builder-grade carpet the greying in traffic lanes is ground-in soil and red clay, not wear. Hot water extraction lifts it and stands the pile back up, so it looks far closer to new before you think about replacing it.

Can you clean older carpet and rugs in a Sun City home without damaging them?

Yes. We identify the fiber first, test older dyes for colorfastness, and clean wool and natural fibers at a gentler temperature and moisture level than synthetic carpet. Everything is cleaned in your home.

How long does the carpet take to dry?

Usually a few hours. The truck-mounted system pulls most of the water back out, so the carpet is dry the same day. In the Carolina humidity that matters, since a carpet left damp can take on a musty smell.
